Benoit Egloff                               Ballet

 

Benoit studied in France at Paris Opera Ballet School, and at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de

Musique et de Danse.

 

He gained his teaching qualification in classical ballet, the Diplome d'Etat de Professeur de Danse

Classique, at the Centre National de la Danse, Paris, France.

 

As a graduate from Paris Conservatoire, Benoit has « Plastic Mythology » by Ashley Page and « Light

Fandango » by Robert North created to him. Both pieces now tour the world and are in the repertoire of numerous companies. That same year, the Conservatoire got the autorisation by the Balanchine Trust for Benoit to perform Apollo.

 

He began his performing career, aged 19, at Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal, Canada, and

continued at Ballett Basel, Switzerland, as a soloist. He toured in China, Australia,United States, France,

Germany, Hungary, Canada,Spain.

 

As a performer his credits include: Giselle, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, and works or creations by Balanchine (Apollo, Theme and Variations...), Nacho Duato, Jiri Killian, William Forsythe, Lucinda Childs, Richard Wherlock, Jose Limon, Merce Cunningham, Ashley Page, Robert North, Douglas Becker, to name a few.

 

During his time with Ballett Basel, Benoit was given opportunities to choreograph and some of his works

were commissioned for opera productions in national theatres in Germany and England (Carmen, Cosi van Tutte, Les Nozze di Figaro, Orpheus and Eurydice).

 

After subsequently recovering well from an injury, he established himself in England as a freelance dance artist to perform, teach, choreograph and restage works for companies and institutions such as the C.A.T (Centre for Advanced Training) national scheme, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, The Royal Ballet School's Associates and Dance Partnership and Acces, The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance among others.

 

Benoit has also taught and restaged works for professional companies in Switzerland and Germany.

 

He has recently been invited by Dundee and Angus College, Scotland, to join the teaching team for The

Space, home for the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance, where he's in charge of the ballet training.

Katie Morea

(Artistic Director)   Contemporary

 

Katie holds a B.A.(Hons) in Contemporary Dance from the London Contemporary Dance School and Canterbury University and is a Fellow and Examiner for the ISTD Modern and the Tap Faculties. She is part of the team that created the ISTD Children's Modern Theatre Grades and the recently launched Advanced Two Modern. She is also the creator of part of  the syllabus for the ISTD Vocational level Advanced Two Tap. Also, she is creator of many of the new ISTD Advanced 1 Modern launched last August.

Katie also studied at the Alvin Ailey School and at the Limon, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham Studios in New York.

 

She was Head of Contemporary and Composition at Bird College where she was Principal Choreographer and Dance Director for the Bird Theatre Company. She has also taught at Elmhurst Ballet School, London Contemporary Dance School and the London College of Dance, all professional dance schools.

 

As an International lecturer for the ISTD, Katie delivers the syllabi and trains teachers all around the world. She teaches and choreographs for professional companies and has worked in Italy, Cyprus, Norway, Portugal, Malta, Germany, Greece, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, the USA, Canada, Trinidad, Mexico and the UK.

 

Katie is currently Head of Contemporary at Bird College and is member of the ISTD Modern Theatre Dance Faculty Committee.

 

Belinda Basu       Jazz

 

Belinda Basu studied at Laine Theatre Arts.

She began her teaching career at Tanz Etage, Bremerhaven in Germany where she taught Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet and ISTD Modern & Tap at pre-vocational level.

 

As a performer / choreographer throughout Germany, her Musical Theatre credits include: ‘Peter Pan’, ‘West Side Story’, ‘Kiss me Kate’, ‘Dracula’: Stadttheater B’haven; ‘The Rocky Horror Show’: Stadttheater B’haven & Chemnitz; ‘Victor Victoria’: Theater Companie Bad Pyrmont; ‘The Little Mermaid’: Ohnsorg Theater, Hamburg; ‘Fire of Dance’ and ‘Weber-Gala Show’: Gerhartz Tours.

 

On returning to England in 2002, Belinda joined Laine Theatre Arts to teach Jazz, ISTD Modern & Tap and Contemporary, for the student & junior departments.

She gained her ISTD Licentiate Qualification in Modern & Tap, as well as her Cert.Ed for Further Education with Greenwich University.

 

In 2008 she moved to Nottingham to teach Jazz, Contemporary & Tap at the New English Contemporary Ballet School and at New College, Nottingham delivered the ISTD FDI teaching qualification.

 

Belinda has also taught ISTD Modern & Tap, Vocational levels, at Performers College and in September 2010 she joined the Jazz Faculty at Bird College, where she remains to date.

 

She has recently been invited by the ISTD Modern Committee to join the Teaching Team for the New Advanced 1 Modern Syllabus and has enjoyed delivering courses throughout England and abroad.
